I own Alpha Copies in Campustown (www.alphacopies.com) and we offer the same pricing for AHS class reunions
as we do for
the school district's printing needs. If a class wants to do any printing i.e. books, posters, signs etc. they get
advantage of that low pricing. If there is a way to spread that word to the masses through the website I would

My Friend, John Crawford AHS 1976, who I have known since elementary school, passed away and joined the Lord on
February 11, 2021. John and I played on the same baseball team so so many years ago and he always mentioned it to me
whenever we ran into each other. John always made time for everyone, had great stories, was happy, and was a great
listener too plus what a go-getter starting Alpha Copies and of course working so hard that it had to be succesful
and still is to this day. Miss you John -- Ed
John Crawford Obituary
John Calvin Crawford Obituary
March 5, 1958 - February 15, 2021
John Calvin Crawford of Ames, Iowa met his Savior face to face on February 11, 2021 at age 62 after a 2 ½ year
battle with kidney cancer.
A visitation will be held Monday, February 15, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Christ Community Church, 5501 GW
Carver Ave., Ames. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 16, 2021, also at
Christ Community Church.
John was born to William & Virginia (Spear) Crawford on March 5, 1958 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
John married his wife, Becky (Bell) Crawford on August 18, 1979 and went on to have 3 children, two sons and a
daughter. In the mid-80’s, after several years with Hy-Vee, John took a job at Gordon’s Market, a grocery store in
San Manuel, AZ. The 3 ½ years spent in Arizona burned a love for the beauty of the desert, and was a place John and
Becky returned to as often as they could in the recent years.
After moving back to Iowa, John worked as a retail counselor for a grocery distributor in Ankeny. His love of
helping businesses succeed set him on an entrepreneurial path that eventually led to John and Becky opening Alpha
Copies (2005) and FastSigns of Ames (2015). John has been a consistent presence in the Ames business community for
over 20 years, serving on various boards which included the Ames Chamber of Commerce and the Ames Convention and
Visitors Bureau. He was known for always thinking outside the box and coming up with ideas that pushed others in the
business community to grow. His always upbeat attitude and humble approach to relationships is evidenced by the long
time friendships and business relationships in the area.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband and father, John especially loved spending time with his 11
grandchildren, reading books, going on motorcycle rides, camping, or just sitting on the deck talking about life.
The house was never too chaotic or too full, and it brought John much joy to have people through the doors of his
home. Throughout his life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. John’s
favorite verse to live by was Psalms 1:1-3 “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or
stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day
and night. They are like trees planted along the river bank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.”
John joins his dad in heaven after losing him to a brain tumor when he was 10 years old. He has a lot of stories to
tell his dad about siblings, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They both have left a legacy for future
generations of Crawford’s by answering the call to follow Jesus.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Becky; his children: Jason (Jess) Crawford, Eric (Abby) Crawford, Mandi
Morgan; and his 11 grandchildren: Caedmon , Payton, Easton, Reagan, Josephine, Keira, Kip, Cody, Tanner, Trinity,
and Afton. He is also survived by his mother Virginia Kunkel; and siblings: Mary (Jim) Lacy of Loveland, Colorado;
Wendi (Rick) Reger of Ames; Kim (Dan) Collogan of Roanoke, VA; Bill (Cheri) Crawford of Forest City, Iowa; and Debby
(Jim) Clemens of Utica, Missouri.
